Ayer, como en los días pasados, salieron los autogiros de Sandfire con la salida del sol. La primera etapa de 211km se hizo costeando con un viento cruzado proveniente del interior de unos 56km/h (uno de los sistemas de navegación que utilizamos nos da permanentemente la situación meteorológica así como la dirección e intensidad de viento). Casi toda la etapa volando en deriva; por contra, el viento fuerte tiene la ventaja que borra las térmicas.
Yesterday, as in the past few days, gyroplanes left Sandfire at sunrise. The first stage of 211km was made following the coastline with a crosswind coming from the interior of about 56km / h (one of the navigation systems that we use permanently gives us the meteorological situation as well as the direction and intensity of the wind). Strong wind has the advantage that it erases thermals.

 En dos horas aterrizamos en De Grey, otra de tantas explotaciones ganaderas. Este aeródromo es hasta el momento el de peores condiciones. Vimos allí un helicóptero, lo que nos hizo suponer que por eso han dejado el mantenimiento de la pista.
In two hours we landed at De Gray, another of many cattle farms. This aerodrome is so far the one with the worst conditions. We saw a helicopter there, which made us suppose that this is why they have left the maintenance of the runway.

La pista esta vez empezó a llenarse de caballos. Nos dimos toda la prisa que pudimos en hacer el repostaje porque la afluencia de curiosos equinos empezaba a ser preocupante. El ruido de los motores provocó el desalojo y pudimos despegar envueltos en una roja nube de polvo.

The runway this time began to fill with horses. We hurried as much as we could to refuel because the arrival of the curious equines was beginning to be worrying. The noise of the motors made them move away and we were able to take off in a red cloud of dust.

La segunda etapa de 233km fue de características similares a la primera. Costeando durante aproximadamente dos horas hasta Roeburne. La costa en esta parte está dominada por extensas marismas y salinas.

The 233km second stage was of similar characteristics to the first. We follow the coastline for approximately two hours to Roeburne. The coast in this part is dominated by extensive marshes.

Esta mañana, como de costumbre, nos fuimos todavía de noche al aeródromo para la siguiente jornada que terminaría en Coral Bay. Con la salida del sol se iniciaba la carrera de despegue.
Una inesperada pérdida de potencia en el motor de uno de los autogiros obligó a abortar el despegue. Volvieron los dos autogiros a la plataforma y se suspendió el vuelo.
Vamos a revisar minuciosamente el aparato. No volaremos hasta que todo vuelva a estar en orden.

This morning, as usual, we still went to the airfield at night for the next flight day that would end in Coral Bay. With the sunrise the takeoff race began.
An unexpected loss of power in the engine of one of the two gyros forced him to abort the takeoff. The two gyros turned back to the platform and the flight was suspended.
We will thoroughly review the device. We will not fly until everything is back in order.
